Growing up in the neighbouring town of Kojonup on a small mixed farm, I was always helping my father around the farm, sheep yards, and sheds, as he was a local shearer. I attended the local school during my junior years before moving to boarding school at Aquinas College to complete my schooling.
After that, I pursued one of my favourite hobbies and completed a carpentry and joinery trade in Perth, where I stayed for over a decade working for Coniglio Joinery. It wasn’t long before I realised my true calling was to return to the country and escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
I moved back to the family farm, where I continued my carpentry work while helping my father with his crutching cradle business and working as a farmhand for local farmers. This is where my true passion for farming returned. When the opportunity arose to work at Rhodes Pastoral, I jumped at the chance to gain experience within a larger enterprise.
I have always had a passion for working in agriculture, and being given the opportunity to work with the sheep crew under the guidance of a great mentor has been greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, we will continue striving to produce high-quality wool and premium meat sheep through the feedlot while reducing grain input. We have an excellent team, and I am excited to see what the future holds for the sheep crew.
